Our story
The Sleeping Partners, manufacturer of British mattresses, was established in 1993 by the Bed Bazaar antique bedstead business to specialise in high quality, handmade mattresses and bedstead bases for antique metal and wooden bedsteads.
Today, and over 50,000 mattresses later, Sleeping Partners has become a standalone business in its own right. In the firm’s showrooms in Framlingham, prospective customers can see the complete product range, try them out and receive expert advice from the sales team.
The 2017 product range includes nine models of handmade mattress including four classic open coil beds and five luxury pocketed sprung models. Prices for a standard double mattress start at just £390 and go up to over £3,900 for a top of the range Winfield mattress and Pocket Sprung Divan set in UK super-king size. As well as mattresses, Sleeping Partners design and manufacture a range of five models of Divan base; these are also available as shallow bedstead bases to suit both antique and reproduction bedsteads and bed frames.

All products are handmade in the Suffolk factory by time served craftsmen. Using the finest quality materials sourced from the country’s rich heritage of long established bedding component suppliers, the traditional craft of manufacturing British mattresses still thrives in Suffolk. Sleeping Partners strives to maintain the highest standards of build quality; clearly evident from the beautifully crafted beds displayed in the factories showrooms. The firm’s ethos is to manufacture bedding products to reliable specifications and not in order to meet price points. Mass produced products dictate what they are made from in order to achieve a price point, the reverse is true at Sleeping Partners.
To ensure conformity and maintain the highest manufacturing standards, Sleeping Partners installed the British Standard BS 5750 (now revised to ISO 9001) into the business thus providing a frame work of strict procedures and systems to help maintain levels of quality and conformity. As a result all products are covered by our own 5-year no quibble guarantee.
Our mattress products are made to order with delivery lead-time being 14 working days, and special sizes 28 working days, we deliver throughout the U.K. and abroad.
