Built to offer extra firm support, the WHITFIELD Backcare Deluxe mattress represents well over a decade of development and evolution. From its conception, the WHITFIELD mattress has been specified with a unique spring system featuring parallel, fully clipped construction. Originally developed by the German bedding industry for use on slatted bases, this configuration has become a UK industry standard product via the introduction of the glued pocket spring in 1997.

This mattresses 1000 count pocket spring unit uses extra thick 1.9 mm (14.5 swg) spring wire giving a superior level of extra firm support to those seeking a genuinely firm mattress. Being a dedicated extra firm product no further spring wire options are offered for this product.

WHITFIELD Backcare Deluxe Deluxe mattresses have 6 evenly distributed, individual upholstery layers. The central springs are overlaid with heavy-duty, stitch-bonded Feltex™ insulator pads; layers of traditional American white cotton felt and Super -bond™ white fibre follow. As with all our pocket sprung mattresses, flag stitched handles and brass air vents are present on each border. Taped tufts and daisy felt washers give a traditional hand-tufted finish as well as ensuring minimal filling movement or settlement.

This mattress has gained a strong following over its fifteen plus years of production; it is equally suited to use on either firm or sprung bases and provides an especially firm feel when allied to slatted bases.
